Crafty Inspiration!

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

When the dark nights set in and Christmas approaches, I always feel inspired to dig out the scissors, pritt stick all things sparkly, and start making things! Whether it’s christmas cards or crackers, candles or jewellery, this time of years seems to rekindle my lifelong love of all things crafty!

Since becoming freelance at the start of 2005, I seem to have misplaced any spare time I once had to enjoy tinkering about with beads or wool or cardboard. Everything I create these days is digital, so it’s nice once in a while to get my hands dirty with live crafts (or covered in fluff and glitter glue should I say!)

For a while now I’ve had a notion to combine the two, I’ve wanted to spend some time fathoming out how blogs really work and find an excuse to find some time to get crafty! So, this week (or after one long night earlier this week) Crafty Inspiration was born!

Crafty Inspiration

Crafty Inspiration is a blog site that I’ve put together to provide ideas and inspiration to people who want to get crafty. I plan to fill it with step-by-step guides and lots of photos of various crafts. It’s a work in progress at the moment but if you want to see what I’ve been up to with shaving foam, satsumas and old crisp packets this week, check it out!

What makes a good logo?

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

A good logo is essential for the branding of any new business. It is often the first impression a customer will have of your business, having seen your advert in the yellow pages or the local press, or perhaps stumbling upon your website. If your logo design works and grabs their attention, they will likely be in touch.

So what makes a good logo design?

What is Web 2.0?

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

During it’s early years the World Wide Web was a great resource of information, if you needed information on a particular subject, you could browse to find a specific company’s website and find the answers you needed.

This was the time of Web 1.0, a time when a small number of writers created web content for a large number of readers. Soon though, more and more readers decided the information they were getting from the writers just wasn’t enough, and what we now know as Web 2.0 began to evolve.

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is said to mean ‘The Web as a Platform’, but what this term actually meant when it was first used back in 2004 wasn’t terribly clear. More recently, the term has become a lot clearer. The World Wide Web has become a platform from which the reader can interact with the content. It is a platform now buzzing with social interaction.
