The Design Process!
Step 1 - The Brief
If you are interested in commissioning me to work on your design project, the first step is to provide me with a brief. To make this simple, on receipt of your initial enquiry I will forward you a short questionnaire to complete. This will generally provide me enough information to put together a quote for your project and to begin work on some initial concepts.
Step 2 - Initial Concept Designs
Once you have confirmed via email that you are happy with the quote, terms and timescale for the project, a deposit payment will be requested. Payment can be made via BACS, cheque or Paypal. On receipt of this I will make a start on the initial concept designs for your project. These initial designs will be emailed to you in a PDF document, to preview and provide feedback on.
Step 3 - Review and Revise
When you have received the initial concepts and had some time to look over them, I will ask you to comment on each design and respond with your opinions (good or bad!) Generally, the client will like a couple of designs in particular but may also like elements from other designs. I will use this feedback to develop the designs further. The review and revise process will continue until you are completely happy with the final design reached.
Step 4 - Finalise
Your final logo design will be supplied to you via email, in a variety of formats for use in both web and print. These will include JPEG, GIF, TIFF and EPS files. Should you require any other specific formats, please feel free to request these and I will provide them at no extra cost.
Step 5 - Payment
Once the final design has been decided upon, you will be sent a final invoice via email. Full copyright is automatically passed to the client upon receipt of this final payment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the design process take?
Start times and turnaround times for projects vary depending on my workload at any particular time and on the complexity of each individual project. When supplying you with a quote, I will also provide you with a guide to my current delivery timeframes for projects. For example, when the initial concept designs are likely to be ready and how long to expect each round of revisions to take to turnaround.
How much do you charge?
For the majority of projects, I prefer to provide clients with a fixed rate quote for each individual project, rather than billing by an hourly rate. This means that you know how much the design work will cost and there are no nasty surprises when I bill you at the end of the project. Each client is unique and I tailor their quote to suit their individual requirements.
Can I discuss my project with you over the phone?
Although many of my projects have been carried out completely using just email contact, I am happy to discuss your requirements over the telephone should you require. All new clients will be supplied with my mobile number should they need to contact me. However, as I work from home and have a small baby I prefer that we schedule via email a time for a chat beforehand, saves me wasting your time and money if you call and I'm mid nappy change!
Who will own the copyright to my design?
On receipt of full payment, the exclusive copyright of the final chosen design is automatically passed to you. I do however retain the right to display the design in my portfolio, or for promotional purposes on or offline.

I want some marketing material designed for print, what will you need from me?
